We interrupt this regularly scheduled family to bring you...

BUFORD FOOTBALL SEASON!!
Well, we survived-just barely.  I'm going to stick to the age-old rule of if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all-so this will be a short post.  Joshua played 9 year old football (#14) and Kathryn cheered for the 6th grade team.  They both had a lot of fun and met some great new friends.  Kate has managed to do something to her foot, but we aren't sure how bad it is yet.  This landed her in a pretty serious splint and on the "injured" list for her big cheer competition this past weekend.  Her squad had a great time at the all-day event, especially when it came time to apply performance-grade make-up (as you can tell).
Joshua's team wore pink socks on Saturday in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month.  With 2 minutes left of this last game of the season, Jackson looked at me and asked, "So mom, are you going to let me play next year?"  I restrained myself, smiled, and asked him if he could please just let me enjoy this moment.
Basketball season starts next week.  Thank you Lord that I have four happy, healthy children who have both the ability and opportunity to play sports.  See-that was nice.:)

Got Dirt?

We do.  A lot of it.  But we also have footings!

T.W.E.L.V.E.

Kathryn celebrated her last birthday as a "pre-teener" yesterday.  We had a lot of fun covering the house in pink, black and white.  She had all her favorite food:  Chick-fil-a nuggets, Olive Garden salad and a cookie cake (I was obviously the take-out queen all afternoon).  It was so fun to be with her and a few of her cheerleader girlfriends who break out into cheers randomly and constantly.  Twelve is an exciting age-already proving to bring lots of changes.  However, as bittersweet as it is, growing up suits Kate well.  She is thoughtful, inquisitive and practical-way to mature for a twelve year old.  Pair those qualities with sweet, loving, and beautiful and we get our delightful daughter who we adore and with whom we are ever impressed.  Happy Birthday Katy-Kate!  We love you and are so proud of you.

Kami Goes To School

Kamryn started Pre-K (finally)!  She had to wait a whole month after her brothers and sister, but it was worth it.  She loves her teachers and is making new friends.  She didn't shed a tear when I dropped her off, but cried hysterically when I came to pick her up!  I think my baby was ready to get out the house. She is growing up a little fast for me, but I am so proud of what a sweet little lady she is growing up to be.

The Big One-Four!

Happy Birthday Jackson!  We are celebrating this fun day by going to lake and eating his requested birthday cake, mint chocolate brownies made by his sister.  We love you and are so proud of what an awesome young man you are!

Oh...he is so close.

A Sheep in Wolves' Clothing

There she is: our middle school daughter.  She eagerly marched to 6th grade this morning wearing her "Buford Wolves" sweatshirt and a smile.  Is this really happening?  How is our sweet, innocent little girl already here? Do they know what they are getting?  Will they see Kathryn as the cheerful, optimistic, compassionate young lady that she is? Can she stay that way? Oh Lord, PLEASE!!
And if You could keep my heart from breaking in the meantime....that would be helpful too.
And then there is our Top Dog.  I guess if you have to be new to a school, it's nice to come in as the oldest.  8th grade and 14 on Sunday.  Great, now I'm crying again.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.  Joshua is so excited he gets to wear his football jersey today because he has a game tomorrow. I guess I should just be happy he doesn't have a mohawk with his numbers shaved in the side of his head.  Go Wolves!!

And where is Kami is all this?  Notice the child peering through the window.  She is almost as upset as me about the first day of school.  What she doesn't know is that she might be the only thing keeping me  sane today.  "Yes, Kami! We can play "lemonade stand!"  Yes, we can play babies!  Yes you can dress up in your princess dress and wear it to the store!  And will you please do it forever?"
